OUR STORY & PHILOSOPHY

At Praya Bamboo Straw, we make our straws using only the best locally sourced bamboo which is grown close to our village in Praya, Lombok.

Made from organic and natural bamboo, our straws promote the reduction of plastic and are a friendly and sustainable alternative to plastic, steel or glass straws.

We select bamboo grown close to the river locally to us, choosing only the finest shoots which are smaller in diameter.  From there, we dry the bamboo out in the hot Lombok sun for 2-3 days before cutting to the desired length.  Next the bamboo is sanitized through a boiling process which lasts 4-5 hours, creating the yellowish hue. 

 

The straws are then sanded off, cleaned and packed ready for shipping!
